HISTORY
While a TRX250X sport ATV was offered by Honda for four model years in the late '80s and early '90s, the precursor of the current platform was introduced in 2001, as the TRX250EX. Based on the FourTrax Recon multipurpose ATV, the sport version saw the addition of a SportClutch in 2006. It was renamed the TRX250X for the 2016 model year.

STYLING & DESIGN
Carefully designed with rider comfort and control in mind, the TRX250X has an ergonomic layout and rider controls delivering excellent fit and maneuverability for a wide range of riders. For convenience and safety, this sport ATV features a bright single headlight with a twin-filament 39-watt high/low-beam bulb, ensuring visibility in varying light conditions. An LED taillight and brake light feature modern styling, while an easy-to-use parking brake keeps the TRX250X in place during stops.

ENGINE / DRIVETRAIN
At the heart of the TRX250X is a lightweight, air-cooled 229cc overhead-valve engine that's longitudinally mounted for driveshaft alignment with the rear wheels, maximizing power transfer and overall efficiency. Rubber mounts minimize vibration, and the engine's two-valve cylinder-head design (31.5mm intake, 27mm exhaust) features performance-optimized valve timing, for a broad and usable powerband that is ideal for recreation. The 22mm carburetor delivers quick engine response, and a unique buffer plate in the float chamber helps maintain consistent fuel flow while navigating rough terrain.

A high-efficiency oil cooler, paired with a 2-quart wet-sump system, keeps engine temperatures low even under demanding conditions, enhancing both performance and longevity. Additional durability features include a closed-crankcase vent system to prevent oil contamination, and a zero-maintenance automatic cam-chain tensioner.

The five-speed transmission features sport-oriented gear ratios, a convenient reverse gear, and Honda's innovative SportClutch, which allows riders to enjoy manual clutch operation without the risk of stalling. The model has a reliable electric starter, while the 123-watt AC alternator ensures ample power for lights and electrical systems. A snorkel-type air-intake system supplies cool, clean air, and a CD ignition with electronic advance further enhances performance and reliability.

CHASSIS / SUSPENSION
The TRX250X is engineered for performance and comfort, with a lightweight, double-cradle steel chassis developed to endure the demands of recreational riding. The suspension ensures excellent bump absorption and rider comfort across varied terrain. The independent double-wishbone front-suspension system features two 27mm shock absorbers and delivers an impressive 5.9 inches of travel. A steel swingarm with a single 32mm rear shock absorber deliver 5.7 inches of wheel travel for a smooth, controlled ride.

Dual hydraulic 174mm front disc brakes and a fully sealed rear mechanical drum brake provide consistent, reliable stopping power. The aggressive knobby tread pattern of the Maxxis Razr Vantage tires (22x7-10 in the front and 22x10-9 in the rear) offer superior traction. Lightweight aluminum wheels help minimize unsprung weight, enhancing overall handling and responsiveness for a confident ride.
